Beyoncé and Jay-Z Just Bought the Most Expensive House Ever in California

jay z new house

The couple reportedly paid cash for the 40,000-square-foot concrete mansion by the Japanese architect. McClean landed first in Orange Country in the 1990s, not exactly the time or place for architectural innovation. In 2000, he designed a house in Laguna Beach, and began picking up local clients. He cut his teeth in an area with an active design board, where any development requires a public presentation. The experience likely prepared McClean for dealing with L.A.’s lengthy approvals processes, which can take as long as building a house, as well as its high-profile clientele.

In 2017, the couple — who tied the knot in 2008 and share three children — bought a home in Bel-Air for $88 million, according to TMZ. “some of y’all are mad that they’re spending THEIR money the way that THEY want to??? It’s clear y’all are insanely jobless,” wrote a supporter of the couple. “Who tf buys a house that costs this much bro that’s so useless you could buy SO much land to save the earth but you rather spend it on a f–king house…💀,” wrote another. Jay-Z and Beyoncé drop $200 million on Malibu mansion, setting a record in California

A sprawling outdoor area adds another 10,000 square feet, according to the Los Angeles Times. Spa and wellness facilities, bulletproof windows and four swimming pools are just a few of the amenities said to come with their pricey pad, which reportedly carried an asking price of $135 million. The deal stands to be the biggest real estate transaction in Los Angeles County this year. The median price for a single-family home in the city has more than doubled since 2016, to nearly $7m. Some of Malibu’s new elite homeowners are now cobbling together multiple properties to build mega-luxury compounds, according to the Journal.

They are nestled in the mountains of the Hollywood Hills and Bel Air, where large-scale construction is notoriously difficult for about a hundred reasons. McClean designs for people who want both understatement and ostentatiousness—taste and tastelessness in the same package. His clients want the clean lines of Richard Neutra, but with a hair salon on site, please. The all-concrete home was previously owned by art collector William Bell and took him 15 years to build, per the outlet. According to TMZ, the pair has splashed out $200 million for a sprawling mansion designed by Pritzker prize–winning architect Tadao Ando perched amid the star-studded bluffs in Malibu, California.

And nearby is “the obligatory movie theater,” McClean says as we enter the plush room. TMZ first reported that the star couple had snapped up a modernist mansion designed by the celebrity Japanese architect Tadao Ando. With a sale tag of $200m, the acquisition appears to break the record for the most expensive home in California. Entertainment news outlet TMZ reported on Friday that the music icons had paid $200 million for a 40,000-square-foot property in the Paradise Cove area, citing sources in the real estate industry.

According to Dirt, more than 22,500 square feet of polished pervious concrete was used for the estate’s driveaway and motor courts alone. For the home, it’s estimated that more than 7,645 cubic yards of concrete was used. According to TMZ, Beyoncé and JAY-Z have purchased a 30,000-square foot home in Malibu for a record-breaking price tag of $200 million.

Police officer hiring just rebounded for the first time since the George Floyd crisis of 2020

The mastermind behind the “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones” franchises has reportedly spent more than $100 million to develop a 4,700-acre property in secluded Nicasio, Calif., a rural patch north of San Francisco. Aptly called Skywalker Ranch, the property includes a man-made lake, a restaurant and a fire station, as well as sound-mixing and recording facilities. Last summer, the Snap co-founder and chief executive Evan Spiegel, who became a billionaire at 25, and his supermodel wife, Miranda Kerr, closed on a $120 million estate in the Holmby Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles. Dirt reported that the purchase was even more eye-watering — Mr. Spiegel also snapped up a $25 million parcel next door, bringing to total value to $145 million. Beyoncé and Jay-Z, who have bought and sold multimillion-dollar homes in Miami, New Orleans and the Hamptons, are now in a rarefied club of celebrities who own properties worth $100 million or more.

They reportedly got a discount, as the home was privately listed for $295 million. Designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the mansion spans 30,000 square feet and reportedly took more than a decade and a half to finish. The seller is notable Los Angeles art collector Bill Bell, Jr., who is the heir to a soap opera fortune. His father, William J. Bell, created the iconic soap operas The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. Times, Bell purchased the property in the late 1990s for $14.5 million and enlisted Ando to create a modernist glass-and-concrete structure. He’s considered one of the biggest art collectors in the world, with numerous works of art by Jeff Koons, Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, Marcel Duchamp, and many more.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z Join the $100 Million Home Club

In 2017, they shelled out $88 million for an impressive Bel-Air pad, and they also own homes in New York City and the Hamptons. The Carters’ recent purchase surpassed the former record of a $177 million Malibu compound purchased by billionaire Marc Andreessen in 2021, TMZ reported. Still, however, the most expensive sale in the nation still belongs to billionaire hedge-fund manager Ken Griffin, who purchased a New York City penthouse for $238 million. The compound is made up of six structures with approximately 30,000 square feet of interior space.

Earlier this year, Jay-Z, né Shawn Carter, saw his net worth reach $2.5 billion, with his fortune boosted by a vast business empire. Beyoncé and Jay Z recently purchased the most expensive home ever in the state of California for $200M. Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z are known for breaking records, and now, they’ve broken the record for purchasing the most expensive home in California’s history.

A source confirmed to PEOPLE in June that, despite touring "every luxurious mansion on and off the market," the pair couldn't settle on a property that met all of their needs. Art collector William Bell, its previous owner, spent 15 years building the all-concrete structure. “Opus,” a Trousdale mansion originally listed for $100 million and developed by Niami and designed by McLean, is now $85 million. Has passed several anti-“mansionization” ordinances, some which restrict a home’s size based on the percentage of its lot it occupies. Residents of Bel Air even formed a homeowners alliance to dissuade the development of mega-properties such as “The One,” which is three times the size of the Taj Mahal. And naturally, local realtors and architects have resorted to name-calling, many referring to McClean as the dreaded developer-architect.

At “Opus,” an $85-million slab of marble and gold on Hillcrest, in Trousdale, McClean shows me how he designed a full-size, subterranean swimming pool beneath a massive skylight. McClean tends to design long, skinny pools—multiple per property, despite the fact that California has been suffering from a severe drought since 2014—that take advantage of the jagged lots he builds on. They usually have the same proportions of a ruler, with an infinity runoff. This particular so-called basement feels more like a shimmering grotto.

Bell and his wife Maria spent 12 years constructing their now-former home. Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z paid a whopping $200 million for their new home in California, making it the most expensive house ever sold in that state, according to TMZ. Amid acquiring the lavish beach-front home, Beyonce is currently in the United Kingdom for her Renaissance world tour. On May 17, she kicked off the UK leg of the tour in Cardiff and took to Instagram the next day to share a video from her performance. Many of her 309 million followers took to the comments of the clip to gush over her stunning tour outfits. “I see why them tickets be so much, she put in work,” one admirer wrote, while a second quipped, “Baddie Bey.” In a separate comment, another fan couldn’t help but compliment her on her ensembles.

Nevertheless, developers continue to hunger for size, and McClean delivers a stealth blockbuster, appearing to effortlessly circumvent such rules. McClean has cornered the .1% housing market by building grandiosity in the most minimal of architectural styles. Consider what a gigamansion might look like, tricked out with top-of-the-line security, staff quarters, and, in the case of Beyoncé’s new home, bulletproof windows. One does not envision, say, an austere Frank Lloyd Wright house at one with the nature around it. The “Crazy In Love” collaborators reportedly got a great deal on the structure, as it was actually listed for $295 million.

The style is a take on the area’s iconic midcentury modern, metaphorically pumped up with steroids and silicone to a scale that would make Rudolph Schindler, a pioneer of the modernist Hollywood house, blush. Wraparound floor-to-ceiling glass walls all peel away; there are pools for each level; the views make the word panoramic seem insufficient. This is not the first expensive home purchased by the billionaire couple in California, as they bought a Bel-Air mansion in 2017 for $88 million. Later, the 53-year-old and his wife increased the property’s value by investing more into it and it is now worth over $100 million, per TMZ. Although the price tag is steep for most, for Jay-Z and Beyonce it’s simply another commodity to add to their over $2 billion fortune. The “Empire State of Mind” rapper is worth an impressive $2.5 billion, per his official Forbes profile.

But homeowners in exclusive enclaves like these don’t like change, especially 30,000 square feet of it. McClean’s homes come with fantastic views, and, like the classic midcentury L.A. The owners of these homes can certainly see you, though you can’t see them. A McClean could easily appear in leveled celebrity enclaves like barren Calabasas or the flats of Beverly Hills, but that’s not where you will find them.

Ando, the architect, is a Pritzker prize winner, whose exposed concrete and glass homes have become status symbols for American superstars. Kim Kardashian announced earlier this spring that she was working on a “dream project” with Ando, and in 2021 Kanye West reportedly purchased a comparatively modest beachfront Malibu home designed by Ando for $57.3m. The house is a minimalist masterpiece, a modern concoction of concrete and glass envisioned by art collector William Bell, who bought the property for $14.5 million in 2003.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z Join the $100 Million Home Club

The home was also designed and built by art collector, William Bell, who spent almost 15 years creating the all-concrete mansion. Not only does the home feature what appears to be multiple pools, but it also boasts a massive driveway for plenty of cars. When it comes to living a lavish lifestyle, Beyonce, 41, is no stranger!

While she is busy touring across the globe for her Renaissance tour, the “Single Ladies” hitmaker and her husband, Jay-Z, 53, reportedly purchased a mansion in Malibu for a whopping $200 million, TMZ reported on May 19. The luxurious 30,000-square-foot property is located on an eight-acre bluff that looks over the Pacific Ocean. Beyoncé and Jay-Z reportedly just bought a house that—between the price, the size, and the world-class architectural pedigree—would break any design lover’s soul. In May 2023, Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z purchased a $200 million dollar Malibu home overlooking the Pacific Ocean, inking the most expensive real estate deal in California history, according to TMZ.

Niami was formerly a movie producer, and “Opus” can feel like a tentpole movie set. In a three-minute trailer on the Opus website, a woman wearing a VR headset writhes awake in the indoor-outdoor master bedroom, as glittery, gold-masked women join her for a bacchanalia of champagne, skinny dipping, and light foreplay. For developers selling a lifestyle, McClean’s designs offer the correct canvas to play with. A rare look at the entrance of the $120 million Bel-Air home purchased by Jay-Z and Beyoncé, which boasts bulletproof windows and a helipad. Reps for the singers did not immediately return our request for comment.

Per TMZ, Beyoncé and Jay-Z recently paid $200 million for a Malibu mansion, which makes it the most expensive home to ever be sold in California. According to the Los Angeles Times, their new L-shaped property is a minimalist combination of concrete and glass designed by award-winning architect Tadao Ando. The mansion reportedly spans almost 40,000 square feet, and the Carters will be able to enjoy outdoor patios that lead to a swimming pool, cabana, and a lawn with a cliff view of the Pacific Ocean. Per W Magazine, the massive property was originally built for noted art collectors Maria and William Bell, with construction taking 15 years. Let’s just hope that the floor plan doesn’t include a secret underground bunker fit for a Parasite. Knowles and Jay-Z, who’s real name is Shawn Carter, purchased a sprawling $200 million Malibu, California estate.

Celebrity Homes

The $200 million dollar property was designed by Japanese master architect Tadao Ando. Ando is also the architect behind Kanye West’s $57.3 Malibu home, which he purchased in 2021 amid his divorce proceedings with billionaire ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. A Midwestern boy at heart, he was raised in St. Louis and studied journalism at the University of Missouri. Before joining The Times as an intern in 2017, he wrote for the Columbia Missourian and Politico Europe. Jay-Z and Beyoncé just shattered California’s price record, paying $200 million for a striking concrete compound overlooking the ocean in Malibu, according to TMZ.

Originally designed for a client who ran into money trouble, it became an accidental spec. This house, on Blue Jay Way, was McClean's first Bird Streets home, and was purchased by Aviici in 2014. Inside the Bird Streets mansion purchased by Calvin Klein for $25 million in 2015. “Beyoncé now literally owns a house in the shape of her favorite number & the most expensive house ever sold.

Given that the Knowles-Carter couple amassed their fortune in no small part through Jay-Z’s investment in blue-chip artists like Warhol and Basquiat, the property offers ample room to let their own collection shine. The mega-mansion spans nearly 40,000 square feet and required 7,645 cubic yards of concrete, according to Morley Construction Co., the project’s contractor. The hip-hop power couple stole the record from their new neighbor, billionaire venture capitalist Marc Andreessen, who paid $177 million for the home right next door in 2021. In the last few months, the stars have reportedly toured several notable properties in their desired neighborhoods of Beverly Hills, Bel Air and Holmby Hills, including the Aaron Spelling mansion.

Its rise in the rankings of the favorite spots of the super-rich was solidified again in past weeks, with reports that Beyoncé and Jay-Z purchased a 40,000 sq ft oceanfront mansion in the coastal enclave. Celebrity real estate agent Kurt Rappaport, who reportedly brokered the deal, did not immediately respond to Fortune’s request for comment. According to TMZ, Beyoncé and Jay-Z secured their Malibu property for $95 million under the asking price.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s 30,000-square-foot compound also features a minimal design and multiple pools. My next stop with McClean is a secluded stretch known as Billionaire’s Row, in the hillside Beverly Hills micro-neighborhood of Trousdale. Here, one is as likely to see a vintage Thunderbird or a house with a crest—or, for that matter, a McClean—as a human being.

The historic deal redefines the luxury market in Southern California, which has slowed down so far this year in the wake of the red-hot pandemic housing market. It also marks another feather in the cap for the affluent enclave of Paradise Cove, which has emerged as one of the most valuable stretches of land in the entire country. Rumors about the property have swirled for years, with several Reddit users likening the monolithic design to a supervillain’s lair. Instead, it was quietly offered at $295 million as a pocket listing, which means it was shown only to a select group of qualified buyers. Ando is currently designing a home with Kanye West, The Daily Mail reported, though the project has stalled and fallen into disrepair.

We’re sure the 32-time award-winning Grammy artist looks forward to returning to sunny Los Angeles to luxuriate at her new mansion with her family. The media mogul, actress and philanthropist reportedly paid $52 million for her Montecito mansion, which covers 23,000 square feet and sits on 70 landscaped acres. It is now worth significantly more — its 2022 assessment record in Santa Barbara County put the home’s value at more than $100 million, with taxes alone topping $1 million.

New York City still holds the record for the most expensive home in the United States, a $238m penthouse apartment overlooking Central Park. But California has been repeatedly breaking its own records in recent years. Supplanting their new neighbor, the Knowles-Carters’ nine-figure closing now takes the cake as the second-most expensive home purchase in American history (the top being $238 million for an NYC apartment). Beyoncé and Jay-Z are the latest to shell out an exorbitant sum of straight cash for one of the Pritzker Prize-winning architect’s few residences in the United States. Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency handled both ends of the deal, TMZ reported. The brothers also co-created HBO’s “Room 104” and co-wrote and directed feature films like “Baghead” and “Jeff, Who Lives at Home” among several other collaborations.

The music industry power couple’s new home is also the second most pricy real estate purchase in the United States. The penthouse at 220 Central Park South cost Kenneth Griffin, founder and CEO of Citadel, $238 million in 2019. There is a really, really good Italian ice vendor just steps away from Griffin’s pad. Beyoncé and Jay-Z have just bought a new home, according to TMZ and Architectural Digest. The digs, boasting 30,000 square feet along the Pacific Ocean in Malibu, cost the couple $200 million.

Amid Beyonce's 'Renaissance' world tour, the songstress & her husband, Jay-Z, reportedly purchased the second most expensive home in the country on May 19. On Reddit, a thread about the mysterious property concluded that “every Malibu mansion looks like a supervillain lair”. The mansion been described as “massive”, “minimalist” and “echoey”, and reportedly includes both a pool and a “water feature”, as well as an award-winning concrete driveway.

Grandmother's House

grandma's house movie

Some are really really entertaining and can be the next Madea or Friday. More often than not they go this route and are simply there and forgotten. It was good for what it was but half way through Grandma’s House I was looking forward to going home.

During their first night, David has a nightmare about his grandfather killing a woman. Grandma’s house plays out like the old film ‘Soul Food’ mixed in with some Tyler Perry’s Madea without the charisma or comedy of Madea. Grandma’s House has a  story that is predictable and derivative of a bunch of other films leaving little to the imagination. You know how this movie will progress from the beginning and there’s no twists or surprises along the way to spice things up. The predictability is slightly believable and the reason that the ideas are derivative is because they are based on common truths.

While driving in the orchard, Kenny and Lynn get the car stuck after running over an old pipe drain. David confronts Lynn in the garage, where they find the woman seated in their grandparents' large truck, handcuffed to the steering wheel. David is shocked to find the woman is still alive, and she explains she is being kept prisoner, and that she came to warn the children about the dangers of living in their grandparents' house. They manage to undo the woman's handcuffs, after which she begins to attack David. Fleeing after the explosion, David runs back to his grandparents' home, where he witnesses them burning clothing and dragging a woman's body into the cellar. Upon sneaking into the cellar, David finds the woman's corpse stuffed in a refrigerator—the same woman he saw at the swim competition.

Convinced there are other bodies in the connected pond, Raymond fashions a makeshift bomb and detonates it, hoping to dredge them.

He witnesses his grandfather carrying his incapacitated mother through the orchard. He follows them into the basement, where he watches his grandfather murdering his mother, and referring to David as his son—David realizes he is a product of incest between his mother and grandfather. David confronts his grandfather (and father), and, in a fit of rage, beats him to death with an axe. The children's grandparents stumble upon the melee, and send them to run and retrieve help. They stumble upon a police deputy, who escorts them back to the house. He informs them the woman is in fact their mother—whom they were led to believe was dead—who has recently escaped from a psychiatric hospital in Jamestown, and is dangerous.

I still don’t understand some of the pivotal scenes from within the movie but more importantly, I don’t care. These are the cheesy Saturday morning/after school special gangsters that only wear all black, wear bandannas and have big thick silver chains hanging over their clothes at all times. I can’t understand why they seemed to wear the same wardrobe despite time passing in the movie and I can’t understand their circumstantial motives. They are a plot device that is reflective of the caricature of the black american thug.

The acting from everyone not named Grandma is painfully inconsistent. A lot of the cast leans on Loretta to lead the scene when she shares a scene and moments without her suffer for her lack of participation. There are a lot of moments that seem OVER acted and some where the actors seem incapable of emoting. I give a slight pass to the over acting when someone is inebriated as that could be an intentional part of the performance but those moments pull me out of the immersion of the film. Grandmother's House (also known as Grandma's House)[1][2] is a 1988 American slasher film directed by Peter Rader and starring Eric Foster, Kim Valentine, Len Lesser, and Ida Lee. It follows an orphaned brother and sister who, after moving in with their elderly grandparents, come to suspect them to be psychopathic murderers.

Adolescent David and his teenage sister Lynn are orphaned after their father dies unexpectedly, and are sent to live with their maternal grandparents at their Victorian home in rural California. The children previously lived in the home with their mother when they were very young, but have little memory of it. En route by bus, the children witness an ominous woman standing in the middle of the road near their grandparents' home, almost causing the driver to get into an accident.

In the pool, Lynn meets Kenny, who takes romantic interest in her. When they return home, they find the police gathered near the property, removing the corpse of the man from a pond. That afternoon, a family barbecue is held at the house with the Sacketts and their children, Raymond and Darlene. While exploring the surrounding orange orchards with Raymond, David is told that a woman was allegedly murdered inside the tunnel of an irrigation ditch, and that her body was stuffed behind the stone wall. Convinced there are other bodies in the connected pond, Raymond fashions a makeshift bomb and detonates it, hoping to dredge them.

As someone raised in their Grandma’s house I totally get the concept of young parents unloading their kids on their parents while they deal with something. Loretta could write the book on playing a portly southern woman with good Christian values. Seeing her take her talents and apply them to a grandma figure is unexpectedly appropriate for her talents. There are a few moments where she steals a scene and had me bursting in laughter.

There’s a big family in a big house, some scenes that take place in a church, a singing choir, and more. And a lot of positive messages delivered to the audience about self awareness, self worth, and family. This falls into the Good category because it’s genuinely refreshing to enjoy a film that doesn’t take place in a completely urban setting. As the Sacketts leave, David sneaks into the attic, where his grandfather follows him. David escapes onto the roof of the house, accidentally severing the house's phone line in the process. Moments later, Kenny arrives to take Lynn on a date, leaving David alone at home with his grandparents.

Inside, David uncovers a photograph of their mother, but Lynn refuses to believe it is the same woman.

How to build a house in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

zeldas house totk

But with her gone, and Link reading her diary, you can discover that she had a secret room built for her. If you’re wondering where to find Zelda’s secret room in Link’s house, continue reading this Tears of the Kingdom guide. Follow Mattison into town and complete her quick quiz (the answer is Vaba!). Mattison will take the lift down, and you must follow her down to the building site and speak to Hudson again.

” side adventure that will have you visiting all of the stables in Hyrule. It's not really surprising that most people don't remember him. Most people probably never saw Dark beast Ganon, or would have understood what the divine beasts were actually doing when they fired on Calamity ganon. And very few people probably saw Link fighting it in Hyrule field.

“Zelda” games have long grown with the video game medium, outlining for the industry how we move, battle and puzzle-solve in interactive spaces, first in 8-bit worlds and now expansive 3-D universes. While “Zelda” history over the last 35-plus years has grown vast and can be somewhat convoluted for those who want to be completists, individual games never feel daunting. A lot of our general advice for capturing and taming wild horses applies here too. You’re going to want meals and elixirs to increase your stealth — food with “sneaky” in the name and sneaky elixirs — to get close enough to catch the golden horse. And then you’ll need stamina-boosting food and elixirs — energizing meals and energizing elixirs — to keep your stamina wheels topped up while you soothe it.

If you’re looking for a place to call home or a one-stop shop for crafting, praying, and sleeping, here’s how to start the Home on Arrange quest in TOTK, as well as a list of each room, its cost, and what each of the rooms does. To get to the construction site, she has to sneak by Hagie to use the rail without paying. You help her do this by finding a piece of wood leaning against the house across from him and blocking his vision with it so she can cross. After, you can go back to where Rhondson is and ascend into Mattison’s room where you will find a diary that lists Gerudo words Mattison is trying to memorize, keep note of these. In the morning, Mattison will be with Grandma Monari to teach her Gerudo and you will need to answer the right Gerudo word.

Inside Adwoa Aboah’s Delightful London Townhouse

Looks like there’s an unexpected cosmetic change, even if it is a little creepy that Zelda kept Link’s hair band in a locked chest in a hidden room. We know Zelda moved in because there is only one single twin bed, and the desk has her journal on it. In it, she talks about the development of Hateno and the spirit of the people of Hyrule as everyone seeks to rebuild after the Calamity. Again, since there is only one twin bed, this suggests that Zelda didn’t just move in with Link; rather, that she has taken the house over completely. It’s kind of a flex, because I am imagining a fictional scenario where Link hands it over to her as the self-sacrificing guy he is.

After completing the side adventure, talk to Rhondson and she will offer you a plot of land and two bonus rooms in Tarrey Town for 1500 Rupees. Purchasing the lot starts the Home on the Arrange side quest. Once you’re there you’ll see some hot-footed frogs and an office built into the well wall with another diary that unlocks a new side quest for the Hero’s Tunic, some brightbloom seeds, and a chest with a well-worn hair band. The hair band doesn’t add any armor value but does allow you to tie up Link’s hair like it was in Breath of the Wild.

I’m not the most coordinated of gamers, but I appreciate that “Tears of the Kingdom” allows me to approach everything like a puzzle. My dodging skills are weak, but often there’s something in the environment to meld or manipulate to give Link an upper hand. After disturbing the ghostly, mummified corpse beneath the castle, Zelda and Link are defeated — Link’s magic sword seemingly destroyed and lost — while the floor opens up. She appears to be safe, as we hear her speak to us throughout the game, but why, when she materializes, does she seem to disappear in a blast of light? For much of the game — I’ve logged about 40 hours with “Tears of the Kingdom” — the feel is less about hunting a big evil and more about simply trying to find answers.

Start at the Lucky Clover Gazette // ‘Potential Princess Sightings!’ side adventure

Hudson will talk about how he’s sad to send off his Gerudo daughter to Gerudo Town, as per Gerudo traditions. Follow him and talk to him again by the entrance of town to hear him out. Back when “Breath of the Wild” was released, I logged more than 70 hours with the title, at times blowing off social engagements to try to discover its secrets. “Tears of the Kingdom,” once again overseen by longtime “Zelda” producer Eiji Aonuma, however, seems even more robust, more lived-in. Link never feels like he’s working alone here, as all of Hyrule is invested in where Zelda has been whisked away to.

As you start exploring Tears of the Kingdom’s Hyrule and visiting stables, you’ll notice a lot of people reading newspapers and talking about the Lucky Clover Gazette taking over (what used to be) Rito Stable. Our Tears of the Kingdom “Zelda’s Golden Horse” side adventure guide will walk you through the steps to finding the side adventure at Snowfield Stable and then help you catch and soothe the golden horse. Look out Landing had probably been set up for a good while before Link and Zelda actually embarked underneath the castle, maybe even a few years.

You can easily find your plot of land next to the Rasitakiwak Shrine. After buying the plot from Rhondson, you can head out of Tarrey Town via the bridge and follow the path until you reach your plot. The plot is right next to Rasitakiwak Shrine, which serves as a convenient teleport point. We were able to find 10 in the sky islands directly above Tarrey Town, which we glided to from the nearby Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower.

In this way, “Tears of the Kingdom” felt like it was dedicated solely to player curiosity. Link can do quite a bit in “Tears of the Kingdom,” such as briefly rewinding time on certain objects or rising through ceilings. Weapons, as in “Breath of the Wild,” degrade quickly, but Link can now use an ability called “fuse” to stick other objects onto them, increasing their strength or turning them into something else entirely. Crafting is typically my least favorite video game activity, but “Tears of the Kingdom” has found a clever solution.

Link simply points and selects two objects, and they’re instantly stitched together. This turns the entire game world into something that feels malleable. What in most games is a chore here is simply an act of visual invention. Environmental clues may key us in on what needs to be done — a lone sail may sit in a field next to a lake, for instance, suggesting we find a way to make a boat — but the feel is as if all of Hyrule is a canvas. The golden horse is a little trickier to catch than other wild horses — when you get close, it’ll run off before you get a chance to mount it. Instead of sneaking the whole way, sprint the last couple steps and mash the A button to mount it.

Every well you find in Tears of the Kingdom will have something special beneath them, so climb down. This is where Zelda’s secret room is, and there are some interesting things inside. However, more importantly, you will also find the second Zelda’s journal! Check out our dedicated guide on how to get the Champion’s Tunic. It also states that “it’s dim but humidity and temperature controlled”. So, how to enter Zelda’s House Secret Room in Tears of the Kingdom?

Link’s arm, scorched dead by the reanimated corpse, is replaced and transformed in the sky kingdom by what is presented as a godly species known as the Zonai. What’s important to know is that we don’t know much about the Zonai — their existence is one of the game’s central questions — only that now Link’s arm has magical abilities. The primary skill is called “ultrahand,” which will allow Link to fuse together many of the items found throughout the game.

Link actually helped create Tarrey Town in Breath of the Wild, so they kind of owe you one. When building the house, you are limited to using the area within the roped boundary. Talk to Rhondson or Hudson at Tarrey Town in the Akkala region to start the Mattison's Independence side adventure. Completing this side adventure unlocks the ability to buy a house in Tarrey Town and start the Home on Arrange side quest. Harlow will give you the Royal Bridle, Royal Saddle, and an energizing elixir as a reward (and Penn will give you some rupees for your reporting).

If you want more help, check out our full Tears of the Kingdom walkthrough. Next, travel to the area southeast of Tarrey Town, just north of the Rasitakiwak Shrine (use fast travel to get there faster). Look for the wooden Hudson Construction stand and speak to Grantéson (see the picture below - it's hard to miss).

Inside Seth Rogen's Houseplant Headquarters

While we don’t get to see the full extent of this home, the way IronKnuckleSX on Reddit has created windows here where there aren’t any surprised me. In their post, they stated by using stables on the upper level and connecting it to the interior rooms, you get the illusion of windows. The stables don’t feature the same walls as the rooms intended for inside the home and open it up nicely. In order to unlock the house, you’ll have to complete the “Mattison’s Independence” side adventure in Tarrey Town. However, you won’t be able to buy and build your house right off the bat. You’ll have to help Hudson (of the famous Hudson Construction) in Tarrey Town first before him and his wife, Rhondson, can assist.

How to unlock Link’s house in Tears of the Kingdom

The two starter rooms will be placed in the world, and you can use Ultrahand to move and assemble them as you please. Speak with Granteson when you’re done building to lock the changes in place. You can speak with Granteson again to purchase additional rooms, like a kitchen, gallery, blessing room, and more. You can now head back to Hudson and Rhondson’s house and buy a plot of land from Rhondson for 1,500 rupees.

Start at the Lucky Clover Gazette // ‘Potential Princess Sightings!’ side adventure

After completing the Home on Arrange Side Quest, talk to Granteson and choose "I'll buy or preview rooms!" to see all room types that are available for purchase. What’s tricky about the way it’s worded in the entry is that the room is not actually accessible from inside the home. You will need to go around to the back of the home and climb down Zelda’s Secret Well. There is a platform at the bottom so while it’s not a far drop, I do recommend using the ladder or gliding so you don’t get unnecessary fall damage.

Instead of a display of weapons from the previous game, the house's interiors has been redecorated to resemble a simple living room and kitchen space. The walls now include several photos, one of which resembles Zelda on a field of flowers. Citizens will tell of sightings of her like she’s a deity prone to apparitions, and that will send Link off to another town in search of rumors of her whereabouts. But along the way we’ll encounter a host of diverting quests, the vast majority of them connected to Zelda’s disappearance or rebuilding Hyrule. Everything, such as going off and spending a few hours to investigate geoglyphs, propels Link forward, as we never know when a vision of Zelda will appear — or a newspaper journalist will have a new Zonai detail to share.

Popular Games

Follow this storyline until Hudson builds the balloon and you all see Mattison off on her journey. Once she gets there, Hudson talks about a balloon he made for Mattison and wants to make it yellow but needs ten Sundelions to do so. I recommend just floating around to different sky islands to collect them. I personally went to Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower and floated to the sky island southwest of the tower and found all the Sundelions needed, plus a shrine, and a new armor piece on one island. Ever since Link saved Zelda in Breath of the Wild, Link’s house in Hateno Village was taken over by her. If you visit that house again in Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll notice that it’s more like Zelda’s house now.

Up the stairs gives a very different, peaceful feel with a bedroom and prayer space combined together with a triangle room. There’s much I haven’t even encountered, such as rockets, but “Tears of the Kingdom” is constantly throwing hints at players that there is more to uncover. Any piece of greenery — or guts from an enemy — can become an elixir or a meal when placed near a flame, but instead of giving us a laundry list of items to hunt, we’re rewarded by improvising with what we have. Some puzzles, found in egg-like shrines throughout the lands, had me slowed simply because I forgot that whacking certain objects could unleash their electricity-like powers. But even then, the game was propelling me to look at and rethink my surroundings. There are no dead ends as long as the player keeps asking questions of the game.

First, talk to Hudson and Rhondson while they are talking together at the Hudson Construction counter, then talk to Hudson separately. There are a few steps you will have to go through first before you can get Link a home in the kingdom. I have found it won’t take too much time, but still set yourself one to two hours aside for this one as there is a material collection process involved in the form of some flowers. Without further ado, here is all you need to do to get Link a house. I had great luck finding Sundelions directly above Tarrey Town, so use the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower and fly over to platforms above the town.

The stairs on the outside lead up to an open-air section of the home that overlooks Terry Town. The location of the stairs also adds a great balance to the home exterior with the stable on the opposing side of the house. Initially, I thought snooping around Zelda’s house may give me some insight into where to find her golden horse. But while reading her diary on the second level I instead discovered a note about a secret room she had added to the home and instantly wondered how to find Zelda’s secret room.

It's open to the public every day except Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and California's oldest still-active lighthouse does charge admission to tour the premises—$5 for adults and $2 for youth. After visiting the lighthouse, there are plenty of things to do around the area, such as whale watching, trekking around Point Lobos State Park, or visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Pigeon Point Lighthouse may be the most beautiful lighthouse on the coast, located on the scenic Highway 1 about 50 miles south of San Francisco and just north of Santa Cruz in the town fo Pescadero. Built in 1872, the Pigeon Point Lighthouse is tied with the one in Point Arena as the tallest lighthouse on the west coast at an impressive 115 feet. The lighthouse itself has been closed to tours since 2001 due to structural issues, but the old employees' bunkers have been turned into a popular youth hostel.

The two lighthouses are just a few minutes from each other on foot, so it's easy to see them both on a trip to Point Loma. While you're walking down, be sure to make a stop at the nearby tide pools on the Pacific Ocean side of the peninsula. These pools are excellent for kids and adults to visit during low tide, making a great educational experience about the natural habitat of shallow sea creatures such as crabs, starfish, and even the occasional octopus. Guided tours are available daily if you want to enter the tower, or you can just go on a self-guided tour around the grounds. The northern California coast offers some of the oldest lighthouses in the state, while the southern California coast offers additional interesting lighthouse finds, each with a unique history and purpose.
