Van de Kamp’s eventually splintered into two different companies- the bakeries and the frozen foods enterprise. Van de Kamp’s Holland Dutch Bakers filed for bankruptcy in 1990, and the iconic Glassell Park headquarters is now a satellite campus for Los Angeles City College. As someone raised in their Grandma’s house I totally get the concept of young parents unloading their kids on their parents while they deal with something. Loretta could write the book on playing a portly southern woman with good Christian values. Seeing her take her talents and apply them to a grandma figure is unexpectedly appropriate for her talents. There are a few moments where she steals a scene and had me bursting in laughter.

In it, she talks about the development of Hateno and the spirit of the people of Hyrule as everyone seeks to rebuild after the Calamity. Again, since there is only one twin bed, this suggests that Zelda didn’t just move in with Link; rather, that she has taken the house over completely. It’s kind of a flex, because I am imagining a fictional scenario where Link hands it over to her as the self-sacrificing guy he is.
After completing the side adventure, talk to Rhondson and she will offer you a plot of land and two bonus rooms in Tarrey Town for 1500 Rupees. Purchasing the lot starts the Home on the Arrange side quest. Once you’re there you’ll see some hot-footed frogs and an office built into the well wall with another diary that unlocks a new side quest for the Hero’s Tunic, some brightbloom seeds, and a chest with a well-worn hair band. The hair band doesn’t add any armor value but does allow you to tie up Link’s hair like it was in Breath of the Wild.
I’m not the most coordinated of gamers, but I appreciate that “Tears of the Kingdom” allows me to approach everything like a puzzle. My dodging skills are weak, but often there’s something in the environment to meld or manipulate to give Link an upper hand. After disturbing the ghostly, mummified corpse beneath the castle, Zelda and Link are defeated — Link’s magic sword seemingly destroyed and lost — while the floor opens up. She appears to be safe, as we hear her speak to us throughout the game, but why, when she materializes, does she seem to disappear in a blast of light? For much of the game — I’ve logged about 40 hours with “Tears of the Kingdom” — the feel is less about hunting a big evil and more about simply trying to find answers.

Back when “Breath of the Wild” was released, I logged more than 70 hours with the title, at times blowing off social engagements to try to discover its secrets. “Tears of the Kingdom,” once again overseen by longtime “Zelda” producer Eiji Aonuma, however, seems even more robust, more lived-in. Link never feels like he’s working alone here, as all of Hyrule is invested in where Zelda has been whisked away to.
As you start exploring Tears of the Kingdom’s Hyrule and visiting stables, you’ll notice a lot of people reading newspapers and talking about the Lucky Clover Gazette taking over (what used to be) Rito Stable. Our Tears of the Kingdom “Zelda’s Golden Horse” side adventure guide will walk you through the steps to finding the side adventure at Snowfield Stable and then help you catch and soothe the golden horse. Look out Landing had probably been set up for a good while before Link and Zelda actually embarked underneath the castle, maybe even a few years.
You can easily find your plot of land next to the Rasitakiwak Shrine. After buying the plot from Rhondson, you can head out of Tarrey Town via the bridge and follow the path until you reach your plot. The plot is right next to Rasitakiwak Shrine, which serves as a convenient teleport point. We were able to find 10 in the sky islands directly above Tarrey Town, which we glided to from the nearby Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower.
In this way, “Tears of the Kingdom” felt like it was dedicated solely to player curiosity. Link can do quite a bit in “Tears of the Kingdom,” such as briefly rewinding time on certain objects or rising through ceilings. Weapons, as in “Breath of the Wild,” degrade quickly, but Link can now use an ability called “fuse” to stick other objects onto them, increasing their strength or turning them into something else entirely. Crafting is typically my least favorite video game activity, but “Tears of the Kingdom” has found a clever solution.
Link simply points and selects two objects, and they’re instantly stitched together. This turns the entire game world into something that feels malleable. What in most games is a chore here is simply an act of visual invention. Environmental clues may key us in on what needs to be done — a lone sail may sit in a field next to a lake, for instance, suggesting we find a way to make a boat — but the feel is as if all of Hyrule is a canvas. The golden horse is a little trickier to catch than other wild horses — when you get close, it’ll run off before you get a chance to mount it. Instead of sneaking the whole way, sprint the last couple steps and mash the A button to mount it.
Every well you find in Tears of the Kingdom will have something special beneath them, so climb down. This is where Zelda’s secret room is, and there are some interesting things inside. Link’s arm, scorched dead by the reanimated corpse, is replaced and transformed in the sky kingdom by what is presented as a godly species known as the Zonai. What’s important to know is that we don’t know much about the Zonai — their existence is one of the game’s central questions — only that now Link’s arm has magical abilities. The primary skill is called “ultrahand,” which will allow Link to fuse together many of the items found throughout the game.
Link actually helped create Tarrey Town in Breath of the Wild, so they kind of owe you one. When building the house, you are limited to using the area within the roped boundary. Talk to Rhondson or Hudson at Tarrey Town in the Akkala region to start the Mattison's Independence side adventure. Completing this side adventure unlocks the ability to buy a house in Tarrey Town and start the Home on Arrange side quest. Harlow will give you the Royal Bridle, Royal Saddle, and an energizing elixir as a reward (and Penn will give you some rupees for your reporting).
Once you’ve finished this Side Adventure, speak to Rhondson at Hudson Constructions. She will offer you a plot of land to build your dream house for 1,500 rupees. Pay the fee and head to the plot of land on the cliff southeast of Tarrey Town. Speak with Granteson and he’ll get you started off with two rooms for your home, a foyer and a bedroom. At the top of the hill, if you follow the path outside of Tarrey Town, then South, you’ll see a plot of land and a construction booth waiting for you.
